Pocket Universe

In the wake of my superlative concert experience, I decided to post an entry for the Jonathan Coulton T-Shirt Contest, where fans compete to design a possible new concert t-shirt. My entry is an artistic interpretation of the song “I Crush Everything,” about a giant squid who is in love with a sailing ship, but is doomed to a life of solitude because he destroys everything he touches. The song is hauntingly beautiful and sad, and seeing it played live was just an amazing experience. My design was inspired by Escher’s interlocking images, which elegantly portray two individuals who are helplessly intertwined, but eternally separated.
