No sooner did we start a discussion on price comparisons between Macs and equivalent PCs, then someone comes along with an article stating that the equivalent Dell laptop is $1000 cheaper than the MacBook Pro. Of course, someone on the Mac side did a more detailed comparison, and found that the MacBook Pro is actually very price-competitive. Then the next day, when Apple announces that they will be shipping machines with better performance than previously expected, he updated the comparison. All are interesting reads.

Those are also worth reading, as they cover other issues such as configuring hardware, specifications, and the value of certain “intangibles,” such as bundled software.
