Blogging from the couch…you gotta love Airport Express!
After the late report last week, I thought I’d get a jump on this week’s DVD Tuesday, especially since it’s a big one. So let’s get to it…
It seems like just yesterday when Kill Bill Vol. 1 came out, and already Kill Bill Vol. 2 is available on DVD. Like the first one, this is a relatively bare-bones edition, with an inevitable (but as of yet unannounced) special edition coming in the future. But for only $15.99 at Best Buy, can you really afford to wait? And if you need more incentive, you can pick up Vol. 2 and Jackie Brown (another fantastic movie, and personal favorite of mine) together for only $25. Two brilliant movies on DVD for only $25? We truly live in a miraculous time.
Long available overseas, the two-disc special edition of Predator is finally available, coincidentally just in time for the new Alien vs. Predator movie. A John McTiernan commentary should be all you need, but if you want more, the DVD comes with a free ticket for Alien vs. Predator. And since you know you’re going to see it anyway, you might as well buy this great DVD for just a few dollars more ($17.99 at Best Buy). It’s a win-win situation (or, alternately, look for my review of Alien vs. Predator next weekend).
And finally, check out The Best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, the famous puppet comic from Late Night with Conan O’Brien. No idea what’s on this DVD, but if it has the sketch about Star Wars geeks in line for Episode II, it will be worth it. Only $14.99 at Best Buy.
